A: Not necessarily. According to actual statistics, more than 80% of the "uncertainty" are not hardware failures, but that the use conditions, operating methods and environmental settings do not meet the measurement requirements.

The essence of a thermoelectric power meter is "heat measurement" rather than direct "light measurement". Its reading accuracy completely depends on two prerequisites: stable light absorption and constant heat flow. Any factor that changes the absorption efficiency and disrupts the direction and speed of heat flow will directly become a measurement error.

Common reasons include:

  • Improper optical path setting (light spot off-center, incident angle is too large)

  • Wrong wavelength range selection

  • Power density exceeds probe damage threshold

  • Environmental thermal disturbances (temperature fluctuations, airflow, adjacent heat sources)

  • Abnormal cooling system (unstable water cooling flow, parallel water channels, aging cooling)

  • Operation error (no warm-up, no zero-setting, electromagnetic interference)
